Abstract: There’s a shortage of data in multiple languages to back up applications widely, particularly for languages with fewer resources. Knowledge graphs (KGs) could help bridge this gap by offering easily accessible, machine-friendly data that can be shared and used across various applications. This work summarises research on multilingual KGs, emphasising less commonly used languages. We discuss the current situation of multilingual KGs and the key elements necessary for developing KGs that cover languages effectively. We also address the specific challenges faced by languages with fewer resources in KGs. Additionally, we provide a summary of applications that provide information for multilingual KGs and the applications that use this multilingual data. Lastly, we examine open issues related to multilingual KGs, focusing on less frequently used languages.
